Support to Renaissance Fusion in manufacturing novel wide tape High Temperature Superconductor

Developed sophisticated R&D tooling to deposit ReBCO at an industrial scale.

Through interdisciplinary work and cross-collaboration with colleagues, an innovative MOCVD machine for depositing high-temperature superconductor was conceptualised and designed, with subsequent managing of component procurement and manufacturing subcontracted.

Outcome extract:

  • An 8-ton, 4x4x4 m vacuum chamber was designed and manufacturing subcontracted.
  • A sophisticated internal chemical reactor handling temperatures over 900ºC was conceived, with manufacturing design and drawing prepared.
  • Performing multiple prototypes for concept and technology validation.
